-
Avoid white
lines or arrows on the road all the time, so when
the weather is at its worst you only have to
concentrate on the traffic.
-
Ride where
car tyres run on the road. They keep the surface
clean and it also puts you in the right position
to be seen by the driver ahead of you. In
addition, you have the best view of the road
ahead, plus room to move
-
The chain
should be oiled after a ride while it is warm to
get best penetration of o-rings.
-
Check rear
tyre tread for extra oil after first ride when
chain has just been oiled.
-
Manhole
covers are normally in a line along the road, so
change your riding position to avoid continually
hitting them.
-
Repaired
road areas are never flat or smooth, therefore
they should be avoided where possible, or
expected as a bump.
-
White lines
can show up bumps on the open road, and oil
stains in a big black spot on the trailing edge
of large bumps.
-
On country
roads trucks put rocks and holes on the inside of
turns, so leave yourself room at the apex of
corners.
-
Looking
through the windows of cars to get a better view
of the traffic ahead may help.
-
New road
works can have wet tar or loose stones on them,
so ride as slow as traffic will let you.
